Practical Logos Tips from Dr. John Fallahee’s Inductive Study Webinar
In his recent training, Dr. John Fallahee walked through a handful of Logos features that fit naturally into a routine of prayer, observation, and word study. If you’re looking for quick, concrete ways to make your workflow smoother, the webinar offers a few gems that you can start using right away.
1. Streamlining Prayer Lists
Creating a prayer list is as simple as Documents → New → Prayer List. Once you name the list and add a topic, you can set up a reminder by clicking Pray for this item and choosing an interval. The reminder appears in your Dashboard, where you can move or delete it with the three‑dot menu. Keyboard tip: Use Ctrl+N to open a new document and jump straight into creating a list.
2. Using Visual Filters for Observation
Visual filters let you highlight key words or grammar patterns. Install a free filter from Documents → Visual Filters → Public, then enable it via Formatting → Show Visual Filter Icon. A single filter can color the 5‑Ws & H or any lemma you’re watching. Test it on a small passage first to keep the interface responsive. Keyboard tip: Ctrl+F opens the find pane, and Ctrl+Shift+F shows the filter icon.
3. Linking Notes Instead of Copying
When you double‑click a word like ravaging, click the Copy Link button in the share menu. Paste that link into your note using the chain icon, and you’ll have a clickable shortcut to the full dictionary entry. Hovering over the link gives you a quick preview, and clicking it takes you straight to the definition. This keeps your notes tidy and preserves the original source context. Keyboard tip: Use Ctrl+K to insert a link in many note‑taking apps, and Ctrl+Shift+L to bring up the link dialog in Logos.
4. A Few Extra Shortcuts to Keep in Mind
- Ctrl+S – Save your current document or note.
- Ctrl+Shift+O – Open the Outline view for quick navigation.
- F9 – Refresh the UI to load new filters or add-ons.
- Ctrl+Alt+P – Toggle the Parallel Text panel on or off.
These small tweaks can shave minutes off your study time and help you stay focused on the scripture itself. Remember, the goal of these tools is to let the Word speak more clearly, so keep your workflow simple and your heart in prayer.
