When Dr. John Fallahee opened the Logos Mobile webinar, he walked us through the 20 key uses that make the app a useful companion for anyone who wants to read, study, and keep track of Scripture on the go. Below is a step‑by‑step look at the features he highlighted, along with practical ways to set them up right from your phone or tablet.

1. Quick‑Start Navigation

On the home screen the first thing you’ll see is the Bible you’ve chosen to read. A tap on the name at the top switches the default text, while the three‑dot menu at the top right gives you access to quick settings.

Tip: Pick a Bible that you’ll use most often and set it as the default; that way you won’t have to jump around each time you open the app.

2. View Settings – Text Size & Layout

From the three‑dot menu select View Settings to adjust font size, line spacing, column width, and background color. The interface lets you switch between a wide layout for a quick scan or a narrow layout for detailed study.

Practical tip: Once you find a comfortable size, you can lock it in by tapping the lock icon. This saves you from readjusting every time you launch the app.

3. Font & Reading Style

The Font setting lets you choose from a handful of Bible‑ready typefaces. You can also toggle red‑letter text, enable page view or continuous scrolling, and decide whether footnotes appear inline or behind the main text.

If you like a side‑by‑side comparison, enable columns. That opens a second pane that can hold a commentary or a study Bible while you read the base text.

4. Highlight & Accessibility

To highlight, simply tap and drag across the passage. A smart text‑selection tool will automatically wrap the highlight in a color of your choice. You can also keep the display on so the screen doesn’t dim while you’re deep in a study session.

Tip: Use a distinct color for Scripture and a different one for notes. That visual cue makes it easy to see at a glance where you’ve highlighted verses versus where you’ve written thoughts.

5. Layout Creation – Split‑Window & Resource Linking

From the hamburger menu go to Layout and choose Split Window. Add a Bible on one side and a study Bible or commentary on the other. With the chain‑link icon in the tabs you can link the two panes so that navigating the Bible automatically takes you to the corresponding section in the commentary.

Save the layout by tapping the bottom tab and choosing “Save As.” When you open the app later, you can load the layout with one tap.

6. Advanced Timeline Feature

In the bottom‑right corner tap Tools then Advanced Timeline. The timeline lets you zoom across centuries and filter events by name or keyword. It’s a handy way to place a passage in its historical context.

Practical tip: Type a name like “Saul” into the search bar while the timeline is set to the Old Testament; the screen will then highlight every event that mentions that name.

7. Reference Scanner Tool

The camera icon in the toolbar scans printed or typed references. After scanning, you can save the list of passages to a Passage List that syncs between mobile and desktop.

Tip: If the scanner misses a reference, re‑orient the camera or type the passage manually after the scan completes.

8. Sermon Manager & Preach Mode

Under Tools → Sermon Manager you can store full‑length sermon manuscripts. When you’re ready to deliver, tap Preach Mode for a distraction‑free, full‑screen view. A timer on the top right helps you keep track of the length of each section.

Use the paging or scrolling options depending on how long your sermon is. If you prefer a single page at a time, paging is useful; for longer sermons, continuous scrolling keeps the flow smoother.

With these core features under your belt, you’ll find that Logos Mobile can support a wide range of study habits—whether you’re reading a verse in the car, comparing commentaries in a quiet study session, or preparing a sermon for next week. The key is to set your preferences once and then let the app do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the words of Scripture and the ways they speak to your life.
