Introduction: A Friend’s Guide to Exploring Proverbs with Logos

Dr. John Fallahee opens his "First Steps in Logos: Search Strategies 101" webinar by welcoming newcomers and seasoned Bible students alike. He stresses that Logos’ peer-reviewed digital library—grounded in vetting by theologians and scholars—offers a reliable foundation for studying Scripture, especially when compared to AI tools that often lack transparent citations. His focus is on practical, hands-on methods that help users engage the Bible deeply, not just quickly. This approach aligns well with the mission of "Know Proverbs," which encourages exploring the wisdom literature of the Bible to grow in understanding God’s design for life.

Understanding the Right-Click Search Menu

At the heart of Logos’ search strategy is the right-click menu, which offers a window into both context and search options. When you right-click a word like "standing" in Revelation 19:16–21, the menu splits into two parts. On the left, you see contextual details such as interlinear translations or Greek equivalents. On the right, you find search tools like manuscript, lemma, and morphology options. To search for the exact word form (manuscript), click the manuscript icon, choose "Bible," and open a new window. This gives you precise results across varied contexts—like "standing" in Revelation 19:17, 19:20, and 19:21—without cluttering your main text view. Avoid inline searches, which fill your current window and disrupt your reading flow.
